Interest earnings from the endowment will enable the Foundation to reach the following specific objectives:

  1. To lead the Valley in providing quality, affordable arts and cultural opportunities
  2. To create sustainability for the Chandler Center for the Arts and Vision Gallery
  3. To expand arts educational programming.

Accomplishing these objectives will ensure that all citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status, will have access to the arts.

Considering the Foundation’s unique ability to offer affordable ticket pricing, and the increasing competition for the arts and leisure dollar, becoming the Valley’s leading venue in providing affordable programming will help make the Chandler Center for the Arts the first choice among Valley residents for cultural and entertainment opportunities.  Additionally, offering the lowest ticket price possible will set a standard for delivering value to arts and leisure consumers.

Creating sustainability is the key to providing a permanent home for the arts in Chandler.   The current cost of operating the Chandler Center for the Arts and Vision Gallery is $1.2 million per year, the majority of which is funded by the City of Chandler and the Chandler Unified School District.   Due to recent challenges in the economy and ongoing challenges with the state budget, cities already have lost millions in revenue sharing and stand to lose more.  To compensate for these reductions, cities have been forced to slash their budgets.   The possibility of a budget cut in Chandler is real.  The Foundation’s goal is to ensure viability of the Chandler Center for the Arts so that budget cuts do not impact the delivery of arts programs and services.

Currently, the endowment is at nearly $1.6 million.  In order for the Chandler Center for the Arts to become completely self-sustaining without reliance on current sources for facility operating funding, the endowment fund needs to increase to approximately $50 million.

Expanding arts education programming will contribute to student development by promoting creative problem solving, knowledge enhancement and cultural awareness; and by fostering constructive engagement of different points of view.  Arts Education programs will include a variety of components, including field trip performances, hands on opportunities to work with artists through residencies, student discounts and opportunities for accomplished student ensembles to perform in the Center’s foyer prior to events.  Expanding programming in this manner not only educates younger audiences and fosters their artistic development, but it also cultivates arts participants of the next generation.
