Arizona Citizens for the Arts
For more than 30 years, Arizona Citizens for the Arts has been the eyes, ears and voice of the non-profit arts and culture sector in Arizona. As a statewide arts advocacy organization, AzCA has worked to promote arts-friendly public policy at the state level and in our local communities. We’ve advocated for public support for the arts at the federal level , e.g. the National Endowment for the Arts, at the state level (Arizona Commission on the Arts) and in local town and communities (public art programs).
As a result of the work of Arizona Citizens for the Arts, cities and towns across Arizona have public funding programs for the arts organizations in their communities. Many have local arts and culture commissions and ordinances that earmark 1% of funding for public works to be allocated to public art projects. And over the years, other communities have funded public art facilities through bond issues and earmarked sales taxes. All of these initiatives have been supported and promoted Arizona Citizens for the Arts.
Today, Arizona Citizens for the Arts is comprised of 100 member arts organizations across Arizona and more than 5,000 individual citizen arts supporters who are part of an active network that steps up in support of arts and culture issues when called upon.
