The Miss Indian Arizona Scholarship program has participants who represent their federally recognized tribes and enrolled tribal members. Each participant introduces themselves in an opening dance number. Next, participants show their style in evening wear, showcasing traditional regalia complete with an explanation of each piece's cultural context and a traditional talent competition, with judges interviews. participants write an essay on their platform. The Miss Indian Arizona Scholarship Program is sponsored by the Miss Indian Arizona Association (MIAA). The MIAA is composed of a variety of individuals, several of whom are past MIA title holders and participants. Membership in the organization is open to all interested individuals. In addition to members of the MIAA organization, the MIA Scholarship Program is made possible through the efforts of many volunteers in the community and the financial support provided by Arizona tribes, tribal enterprises, individual native businesses, and individuals.
