CCA Anywhere: One Night in Memphis

Mar 11, 2021
Thu 7:00pm

Chandler Center for the Arts is proud to present its CCA Anywhere Series, connecting people through engaging virtual performances that can be watched on your phone, tablet, laptop or TV...wherever you may be.

One Night in Memphis: Presley, Perkins, Lewis & Cash pays tribute to one legendary night in rock and roll history on December 4, 1956.

Carl Perkins and his brothers are recording at Sam Phillip’s Sun Records Studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Included in the recording of the Blues song, “Matchbox,” a young Jerry Lee Lewis from Louisiana plays the piano. Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash come by the studio to listen and an impromptu jam session ensues. A photo and article appears in the Memphis Press and it is dubbed, “The Million Dollar Quartet.” A recording of these musical icons lives on in rock and roll lore.

Relive this special evening with a pre-recorded concert and the opportunity to engage in live chat with the performers:

John Mueller - Carl Perkins

Alex Swindle - Elvis Presley

Blair Carman - Jerry Lee Lewis

Neil Morrow - Johnny Cash

Ed Maxwell - stand up bass
