Set in Napoleonic Spain, Paquita, a young Romani girl, saves the life of French officer Lucien d’Hervilly. She later discovers through a medallion that she is actually of noble birth and Lucien’s cousin, having been abducted as an infant. With the plot against Lucien thwarted, the two are ultimately able to marry.
