One of the most accomplished instrumentalists of the last half-century, Metheny is a lyrical and versatile jazz guitar player. Metheny has scored 39 Grammy nominations and 20 wins in 12 different categories. Over the years, he has won countless polls as “Best Jazz Guitarist” and numerous awards, including three gold records.
As a teenager, Metheny regularly jammed with Kansas City’s best jazz musicians, an inspiring experience of sitting in with more mature players. Side-Eye honors that tradition. With Side-Eye III, Metheny invites up-and-coming talent who have particularly caught his interest to tour with him, giving them the platform to be discovered.
The core members of this band are Pat Metheny, Christ Fishman (keys), and Joe Dyson (drums). The two up-and-comers who are joining Side-Eye III are Jermaine Paul, a young bassist from California, and Leonard Patton, a percussionist and vocalist that Metheny has "wanted to include in [his] thing for years."
