CHANDLER, Ariz. Chandler Center for the Arts presents an evening with renowned NASA engineer Kobie Boykins on Friday, February 13 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $32, $42 and $52 and $19 for youth at chandlercenter.org
With more than 25 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Boykins offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at humanity’s past, present, and future in space exploration through compelling storytelling, high-definition video, and award-winning photography.
Audiences will embark on a journey spanning more than two decades of discovery, from Mars Rover missions to one of NASA’s most ambitious endeavors yet: the Europa Clipper mission.
After working on every Mars mission since Pathfinder, which delivered the first rover to the Red Planet, Boykins set his sights on more distant frontiers. As Chief Engineer for Europa Clipper, he is leading a team to design and deploy a spacecraft that will travel nearly eight years to reach Jupiter, slingshot around the planet, and begin a two-year orbit of its icy moon Europa.
The mission’s goal is to determine whether liquid water exists beneath Europa’s frozen surface. Where there is water, there is the potential for life. Boykins will share the latest discoveries, explain how cutting-edge spacecraft are built, and explore what these missions could mean for the future of interplanetary exploration.
Following the presentation, audiences are invited to participate in a question and answer session and a meet and greet in the Chandler Center for the Arts lobby, offering attendees the opportunity to engage directly with Kobie.
