Chandler Center for the Arts hosts special events to raise funds for the Chandler Cultural Foundation (CCF), which provides funding for programs and performances. These events are exceptional opportunities to celebrate the arts, enjoy fine food and wine and connect with others who are committed to arts and culture in Chandler.
Kids Take Center Stage
This fall, join the Chandler Cultural Foundation's Board of Directors as they raise money to support youth programs at Chandler Center for the Arts. While it is the world class artists and performers who are in the spotlight at the CCA, it is the youth who are served by Connecting Kids programming who take center stage when it comes to the CCF's mission, making the arts available to everyone in the community.
Why Support Connecting Kids?
For a child art can be very powerful. It can inspire. It can motivate. It can empower. It can open up a world of problem-solving, math and science.
Research shows arts experiences have a tremendous impact on the developmental growth of young people. When exposed to the arts, youth are more successful in the classroom and have increased progression in life skills.
“Experiences with the arts are critical to youth development related to critical thinking, better synthesis of math and science, and innovative problem-solving,” says Michelle Mac Lennan, General Manager at the Chandler Center for the Arts. “Studies show that a student involved in the arts is four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement.”
The primary goal of Connecting Kids is to develop the artists, leaders, and arts patrons of tomorrow. Many participants have returned year-after-year to Camp Kids and Vision Kids to further develop their creativity. Parents have shared how Connecting Kids programs boost self-esteem, confidence, and social skills. Several graduates of the Youth Arts Council have returned to the Center to volunteer on committees and special projects.
