Custodial Assistant (Part-Time)

Reports To: Lead Custodian & Patron Services Coordinator
Pay Range: Starting at $17.52 per hour

This position is a part-time, non-benefited position with no set hours.

Primary work functions happen on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays with some weekdays and weekday evenings based on event needs. 

Reporting to the Patron Services Coordinator and with direction from the Lead Custodian, this position assists other custodians during events at the Chandler Center for the Arts. The Custodian Assistant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the facility before, during, and after events. The Custodial Assistant must be able to work well with City of Chandler staff, CCA volunteers, artists, and clients to ensure the smooth operation of all events.

 Minimum Qualifications Required

  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Willing to work long/late hours, including past 12:00 A.M. on a regular basis
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more

 Preferred/Desirable Qualifications

  • Prefer some custodial and event set up experience, having worked in large, public assembly venues
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Effective communication skills including interpreting written instructions
  • Ability to clean and maintain theaters, backstage spaces, offices, public restrooms, gallery, and outdoor areas
  • Ability to prioritize cleaning tasks related to daily venue activities and space usage schedules

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleans theaters, backstage spaces, public restrooms, offices, and gallery; works with cleaning fluids and chemicals using normal protective equipment; uses machinery such as vacuum cleaners and floor scrubbers
  • Coordinates with other custodians and staff regarding set up and tasks for events
  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of lobby and restrooms during events and stocking restrooms, monitors theaters, lobbies, and restrooms during the pre-show, performance, intermission and post-show
  • Ability to learn and explain to others lobby setups and theater cleaning procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude

Assistant House Manager

Reports To:   Patron Services Coordinator

Pay Range:   $16-$19 per hour (depending on experience)

This position is a part-time, non-benefited position with no set hours.  Primary work functions happen on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays with occasional weekday/weeknight events. Under direction of the Patron Services Coordinator, this position assists the House Manager & Patron Services Coordinator during live events at the Chandler Center for the Arts.  The Assistant House Manager is responsible for monitoring and assisting with overseeing front of house activities during events.  The Assistant House Manager must be able to work well with staff and volunteers to ensure smooth operation of front of house and outstanding customer service to patrons, clients, and artists at Chandler Center for the Arts. 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Able to stand for long periods of time and navigate steps on a regular basis
  • Willing to work long hours if needed
  • Primarily available Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays day and evening, and occasional weekdays/weeknights

Preferred/Desirable Qualifications:

  • Six months or more of customer service and/or live event experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Front of House operations for performing arts venues
  • Familiarity with Volunteer Management and related software (Volgistics)
  • Ability to set priorities, remain calm and handle possible emergency situations
  • Effectively present information to a wide variety of contacts including patrons, volunteers, staff, clients, artists, media, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the direction and supervision of approximately 10-30 volunteers at performances and events
  • Assists with crowd management during live events, including venue entrance, reserved and general admission seating, internal lines, exiting, and possible emergency situations
  • Coordinates show requirements using a checklist with Patron Services Coordinator and House Manager
  • Responsible for assisting in preparing event reports, incident and accident reports and volunteer orientations and trainings
  • Actively monitors theatre, lobbies and restrooms in case of emergency situations; assists with emergency evacuation of venue, if necessary
  • Handles questions, comments and complaints that may occur during the pre-show, performance, intermission and post-show activities from patrons, staff, volunteers, clients, and artists
  • Ability to learn and train others on theatre seating and scanning procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills and positive attitude
  • Maintains high standards for interacting with patrons, staff and volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned

Arts Center Manager - Chandler Center for the Arts

Position Summary

The Arts Center Manager of the Chandler Center for the Arts (CCA) will serve as a bold, community-minded leader who will elevate CCA’s visibility, impact, and momentum, championing its role as a flagship cultural destination for the city of Chandler. The Arts Center Manager will provide strategic, hands-on oversight of finance, administration, public relations, and programming, and will advance long-range planning for the Arts Center Division within the City’s Cultural Development Department. Reporting to the Cultural Development Director, the Arts Center Manager will align people, priorities, and resources, and will ensure high-performing daily operations.

As chief steward of the Chandler Cultural Foundation and CCA’s chief ambassador, the Arts Center Manager will drive revenue growth and audience engagement through integrated budgeting, fundraising, grant development, marketing, and sales strategies. The Arts Center Manager will shape a compelling, multi-year program, spanning presented performances, youth and community engagement, co-promotions, rentals, exhibits, and City events. Serving as a confident, media-ready spokesperson and key liaison to Chandler Unified School District and community stakeholders, the Arts Center Manager will build excitement, deepen relationships, and will position CCA as an essential hub for arts and culture.

Roles and Responsibilities

Operations, Policy Compliance, and People Leadership

  • Act as President of the Chandler Cultural Foundation.
  • Supervise and oversee daily operations.
  • Set goals and objectives for assigned areas.
  • Manage schedules and establish work priorities.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
  • Facilitate access to resources and training opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and address operational and personnel issues.
  • Conduct interviews and make hiring decisions.
  • Interpret policy to ensure nonprofit practices comply with municipal contracts, processes, and procedures.
  • Act as liaison between the City and Chandler Unified School District, and to the community at large and stakeholders for arts and culture-related activities.
  • Embrace other operations, policy compliance, and people leadership responsibilities as needed.
     

Relationship Management

  • Build and sustain strong, trust-based relationships across all key stakeholder groups.
  • Ensure relationship-building remains central to day-to-day leadership and long-term success in the role.

Financial Management and Planning

  • Prepare budget projections and reports, and monitor revenue and expenditures.
  • Assist with developing and monitoring capital improvement projects and short- and long-term division planning.
  • Embrace other financial management and planning responsibilities as needed.
     

Programming and Presenting

  • Guide multi-year program development, including contracting presented performances, youth and engagement programs, co-promotions, City events, rental events, and exhibit schedules.
  • Facilitate off-site presenting at partner venues in collaboration with local, regional, and national arts centers.
  • Monitor community needs and industry trends through surveys and research.
  • Embrace other programming and presenting responsibilities as needed.
     

Revenue Development, Marketing, and Communications

  • Develop and monitor fundraising, grant writing, marketing, public relations, advertising, and sales strategies for the Chandler Center for the Arts.
  • Serve as spokesperson for media inquiries and promote activities through public speaking opportunities.
  • Embrace other revenue development, marketing, and communications responsibilities as needed.
