Showtune Productions is holding non-Equity adult auditions for its 2026 production of "Shrek" at the Chandler Center for the Arts. Auditions will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with callbacks scheduled for August 10, 2025.
"Shrek the Musical" will feature a fully staged production, complete with a live onstage orchestra, scenic projections, costumes, and choreography.
To be eligible, cast members must be 15 years or older and available for all evening and full-day weekend rehearsals, which will occur from January 2-4 and March 1-12, 2026. The live performances will take place at the Chandler Center for the Arts on Friday, March 13, Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15, 2026. All roles will be paid, and Showtune Productions is committed to inclusive, non-traditional casting.
Auditionees should prepare 16 bars of a Broadway classic and bring sheet music or an iPad with music in their key. Additionally, please bring a professional, non-returnable headshot and resume.
No walk-ins will be allowed. Check-in will take place in The Gallery at the CCA.
Pre-Audition Workshop
In preparation for the auditions, JR McAlexander, the Producer and Musical Director of Showtune Productions, along with M. Seth Reines, the Artistic Director, will host a free musical theatre audition workshop for actors aged 15 and older. This workshop will take place on Monday, July 14, at 6:00 PM at Chandler Center for the Arts.
The workshop will offer valuable audition tips to help participants prepare for professional musical theatre auditions. Topics covered will include song selection, performance preparation, resume and headshot preparation, as well as audition etiquette and attire.
Attendees who wish to participate actively should prepare 32 bars from a Broadway classic. Piano accompaniment will be available. Please come dressed appropriately for the audition and remember to bring your headshot.
If you do not have a headshot, the Chandler Center for the Arts will provide a photographer to take free theatrical headshots.
