Kids Take Center Stage This Fall

An entire audience of adults and youth are standing up and yelling jubiliantly

For a child, art can be powerful.

When we think back to our first experience with the arts, many of us will remember a play, a concert, a museum, an art class, a poem, a song. That moment changed our perspective of the world - it showed us the beauty of symmetry, melody, color, reality, and numbers.

In addition to affecting our emotional state and how we perceive things, experiences with the arts are an important part of youth development. Critical thinking, a better synthesis of math and science, and innovative problem-solving are all proven outcomes of arts education, and studies show that a student involved in the arts is more successful in the classroom, four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement and has increased progression in life skills.

Kids Take Center Stage raises funds to support Connecting Kids programs. Connecting Kids encompasses four different programs that serve nearly 6,000 youth in the community with free or low-cost arts experiences. Each program is delivered to reduce barriers and give all youth, regardless of socioeconomic status, the opportunity to participate.

Kids Take Center Stage debuted in 2020 as a replacement for the Chandler Cultural Foundation’s annual gala dinner, which was canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, board members have chosen to once again forego the gala, opting instead to reach out to the community to support youth programs.

Members of the community can support arts delivery to youth in our community by making a gift, now through November 1.

There are different levels of giving. The $1,000 Arts Education Sponsor is equivalent to 500 students seeing MacBeth come to life with a performance from the Utah Shakespeare Festival, or 20 classrooms experiencing a Black Violin live virtual performance.

If you would like to support this effort, make a secure online donation now.
